Govt forms committee to promote Srinagar as ‘Global Craft Destination’

In an effort to position Srinagar City as a premier global craft destination, the Industries & Commerce Department has constituted a dedicated committee that is tasked with partnering with renowned magazines like Conde Nast, Outlook Traveler, and Travel and Leisure to elevate the city’s visibility as a craft hub.

The Committee will be chaired by Director Handicraft & Handloom Kashmir; while Director, Industries & Commerce, Kashmir; MD Handicrafts & Handloom Corporation; Deputy Secretary (N); Representative of DC Handicraft/Handloom will be its members.

 

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of following Committee for initiatives like collaborations with reputable magazines such as Conde Nast, Outlook Traveler, and Travel and Leisure in order to significantly enhance the visibility and promotion of Srinagar City as a craft destination and collaborations with renowned curators and event organizers to plan and execute world class craft exhibitions,” the order reads.
