Kashmiri scientist earns prestigious place in Stanford University’s 2 % list

A Kashmiri scientist Dr Yonis Gulzar has featured among Stanford University’s world’s top 2 percent scientists list.

Dr Yonis Gulzar, hailing from Shahpora district Budgam in Kashmir, has earned the place for outstanding contributions in artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on its applications in healthcare and agriculture.

Dr Yonis completed his PhD in Computer Science at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2018, where he was awarded the best PhD Student from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.

Since joining King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, in 2019, Dr Yonis has been actively involved in research and has been consistently recognised for his work. Due to his exceptional contributions, he was honoured with the Research Excellence Award for the years 2022 and 2023-24.

His research focuses on developing Al-driven solutions to address global challenges in healthcare diagnostics and agriculture. These efforts have earned him a place among the world’s leading scientists.

“It is a moment of great pride for me and my homeland, Kashmir,” said Dr Yonis. “This recognition motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of Al to make a positive difference in healthcare, agriculture, and beyond.”
