All India Zonal Chess and Carrom Tournament 2024 Begins at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar

The All India Zonal Chess and Carrom Tournament 2024 commenced Wednesday at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.

The event is being organized by the Regional Sports Control Board, Northern Region, Airports Authority of India.

The tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Javed Anjum, Airport Director of Srinagar Airport, alongside Mr. V. D. Narayan, Secretary General of the International Carrom Federation, and Mrs. Bharti Narayan, General Secretary of the All India Carrom Federation.

During the inauguration, the Chief Guest emphasized the vital role of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle and stressed the importance of incorporating physical activities into daily routines.

The tournament, which runs from October 23 to 26, follows a league-cum-knockout format. Six zonal teams, each comprising 17 players (both men and women) from different regions, are competing.

The event will conclude on October 26, 2024, with a closing ceremony at the SKICC Convention Centre, Srinagar.
