Chairman of the CII J&K UT Council, Dr. M.A. Alim, along with Mr. Khurshid Dar, Head CII J&K, recently held a meeting with Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism Department, who also holds the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department.
The meeting focused on exploring strategic initiatives to revitalise the tourism sector in J&K, with an emphasis on traveler safety, quality experiences, and sustainable growth. Dr. Alim stressed the importance of integrating local art, craft, and cultural heritage into the tourism offering, while also advocating for eco-friendly practices to protect the region’s fragile ecology.
He also proposed a potential partnership between CII and the government to attract investment and drive innovation in tourism development. Dr. Verma appreciated CII’s proactive engagement and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting tourism as a key economic driver. The discussion underscored a shared vision of promoting J&K as a leading travel destination through public-private collaboration.
