NIFT Srinagar Hosts Textiles Ministry Team to Discuss Progress and Craft Programs

A delegation from the Ministry of Textiles, led by Secretary Neelam Shami Rao, visited the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar to review the institute’s infrastructure and activities.

Rao praised the campus, calling it one of the best with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, and workshops supported by a highly competent faculty.

Students’ film projects were screened to highlight the creative acumen nurtured at the institute. Rao also e-inaugurated the Craft Village at Kanihama, directing the District Administration Budgam and the Department of Handlooms to strengthen promotional activities to attract tourists and support local artisans.

The team toured the campus, interacted with students and faculty, and attended an exhibition showcasing innovative designs that blend Kashmiri crafts with contemporary fashion.
