Majid Yousuf Sheikh Qazigund Youth Secures ISPL Selection

Majid Yousuf Sheikh, a 19-year-old all-rounder from Qazigund in South Kashmir, has been selected by Ahmedabad Lions for the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Under-19 category for Rs 3 lakh, bringing pride to his village and the Valley.


Majid, the son of a local tailor, honed his cricketing skills on a small, uneven ground in his hamlet of Panzath, displaying talent, patience and determination from an early age.


His selection sparked celebrations in Qazigund, with neighbours, relatives and teachers congratulating him. Teachers recalled his perseverance, balancing studies and cricket and highlighted his prior experience playing with renowned players like Parvez Rasool. Majid’s father, Muhammad Yousuf Sheikh, expressed immense pride and hopes for his son’s continued success.


The young cricketer’s achievement has already inspired local youth to focus on sports and education, encouraging them to remain disciplined and avoid distractions. Majid’s journey is seen as a shining example of dedication and resilience.
