Pride of J&K! Team Excels at 8th Int’l Taekwondo Championship in Dehradun

The 8th International Taekwondo Championship, held at the Parade Ground Multipurpose Hall in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, concluded with exceptional performances from the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Taekwondo team. Organized by the Taekwondo Federation of India, the championship saw a strong international presence, with participants from various countries.


The J&K team, led by Anil Nanda, President of the J&K Sports Taekwondo Association and coached by Ronika Rathore, showcased remarkable talent and discipline. The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including chief guest Amit Sinha, Special Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare, Dehradun and guests of honour, Rekha Arya, Sports Minister of Uttarakhand and Dr Ashish Chauhan, Sports Director of Uttarakhand, who lauded the team’s efforts and sportsmanship.


Jammu’s athletes delivered an outstanding performance, clinching several medals in different categories. Among the notable medallists were Viraj Singh, Dhairya Mahajan, Chinmay Aggarwal, Ali Hasnain, Tamandeep Kour and Shanaya Sharma, all winning Gold. Other notable winners included Vihaan Sharma, Shiven Gupta and Anshuman Singh Jamwal, who secured Silver medals and Bijoy Nanda, who excelled in Kyorugi.


The Championship provided a valuable platform for the players to gain exposure, confidence and competitive experience. The success of the J&K team is a proud moment for the region, reflecting the growing interest and excellence in Taekwondo. Coaches and officials expressed optimism that such achievements would inspire more youth to embrace sports and Taekwondo in particular.
