The pristine snowscapes of Gurez Valley are now a vibrant classroom of ambition and movement as the 15-day Basic Ski Course, orchestrated by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), completed its third dynamic day. The air, crisp with winter, is now equally charged with the growing enthusiasm and disciplined energy of its young participants. As per a DYSS statement, Wednesday session saw trainees transition from initial curiosity to active command, delving deeper into foundational skiing techniques. Under expert guidance, they honed balance control, practiced fluid snow movement, and mastered essential turning methods. Paramount to the day’s curriculum was a rigorous focus on safety with comprehensive drills in physical conditioning, structured warm-ups, and proactive injury prevention fostering a secure and empowering learning environment.

This transformative initiative, championed under the progressive vision of Director General Youth Services & Sports, Anuradha Gupta, is a strategic endeavour to cultivate a robust winter sports culture. It aims to unlock potential in the region’s most scenic yet remote corners. The program benefits from the diligent supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Bandipora, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, who ensures every session meets the highest standards of coaching quality, safety, and participant discipline.
