Health for All: Free Medical Camp Organized at Zewan by KMCH & JKAP 9th BN

 Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police 9th Battalion, on Tuesday organised a free medical camp at the Armed Police Complex (APC), Zewan in Srinagar, which witnessed huge participation from police personnel and the general public.

SSP Commandant JKAP 9th Battalion Shahzaad Salarh; Managing Director KMCH Tauseef Ahmad; Executive Director KMCH Insha S. Qazi; Assistant MS KMCH Dr Umar; doctors and staff of KMC, along with senior officers of JKAP and civilians, were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director KMCH Tauseef Ahmad appreciated the JKAP 9th Battalion for organising the medical camp for police personnel and residents of the Zewan area.

He said the institute aims to provide quality healthcare services to the downtrodden sections of society and ensure accessible medical care for people across Kashmir. He added that KMCH has already conducted 12 medical camps and is planning to organise more such camps in the future.

The Managing Director further said the institution would soon provide an opportunity for aspiring medical students in J&K, who no longer need to travel outside to pursue MBBS, PG medical courses.

SSP Commandant JKAP 9th BN said the medical camp received an overwhelming response. He appreciated the cooperation extended by KMC in organising the initiative and its management for providing medical services to police personnel and the local community.

The SSP also presented mementos to Chairman KMC Tauseef Ahmad and Deputy AMS Dr Umar as a token of appreciation for their contribution to the initiative.

Executive Director KMCH Insha S. Qazi said it was an honour to serve police personnel as a token of appreciation for their commitment and dedication in serving the nation and safeguarding society.

She said the camp witnessed the participation of 2,000 people, while 40 doctors from different specialties provided consultations and treatment. Patients appreciated the initiative and lauded the organisers for bringing healthcare services closer to the community.

Police personnel of the 9th BN, their families, and local residents from Zewan and adjoining areas availed the healthcare services provided at the camp.

During the camp, patients were provided free medicines and diagnostic services. OPD facilities were made available in several specialties including Dentistry, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Paediatrics etc.

As part of the initiative, the ICTC unit of J&K AIDS Control Society at Police Hospital Zewan also set up a stall where free HIV testing services were offered.
