Mohammad Qais Makes J&K Proud with Bronze Medal at National Soft Tennis Championship

Young soft tennis player Mohammad Qais continued his remarkable rise by clinching a bronze medal at the 3rd North Zone National Soft Tennis Championship, organised by the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association under the banner of the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.The championship, held from June 26 to 28, witnessed participation from teams across the North Zone. Despite competing against senior players, Qais, who belongs to the sub-junior category, produced an impressive performance to secure a podium finish.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir after his achievement, Qais said the competition was highly challenging as all the top teams from the North Zone participated. “I played in the senior category although I belong to the sub-junior category. It was a good experience and a tough competition,” he said.

The young athlete has already built an impressive resume, having won three gold medals at the district level, three gold medals at the state level, four gold medals at national championships and one gold medal at the International Asian Championship

Expressing his future ambitions, Qais said his dream is to win more medals for both India and Jammu & Kashmir.

The closing ceremony was attended by Narinder Pal Singh, Joint Secretary of the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India, as the chief guest.
