GGF J&K presents Iqbal Mir Memorial Awards at Tagore Hall

 Gandhi Global Family (GGF) J&K, in collaboration with Care Foundation Srinagar, today presented the Iqbal Mir Memorial Awards at Tagore Hall, honoring individuals for their contribution to society and public service.

The awards for the years 2019 to 2024 were presented by Principal Secretary, Culture, B M Sharma, in the presence of GGF J&K president SP Varma.

The awardees included Sheikh Firdous, Umer Wani, Vandana Daftari, Khalida Hanjoora, Peerzadi Masrat and Dr A Tahir, while special honours were conferred on Farooq Geelani, retired Additional PCCF, and Kiran Wattal, former Managing Director of J&K Housing Board and former Municipal Commissioner Jammu.

Paying tribute to late Mohammad Iqbal Mir, a former Government officer and Gandhian known for his role in peace initiatives during the militancy period, Sharma described him as a symbol of selfless public service.

Dr Mehjabeen Nabi delivered the welcome address and urged the youth to follow Gandhian values, while Kiran Wattal and several other speakers also addressed the gathering. Altaf Dar, Coordinator Srinagar, presented the vote of thanks.
