Fowzia Afaq of Bandipora awarded Ph.D on ‘Development of Women in Kashmir’

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Hyderabad has awarded doctorate degree to Fowzia Afaq for her research work on “Development of Women in Kashmir”.
Fowzia a resident of Bandipora qualified her degree in Doctor of Philosophy in Journalism and Mass Communication recently from the MANUU.
She has worked on the topic “Role of Electronic Media in Socio-Cultural Development of women in Rural Kashmir” under the supervision of Prof Ehtesham Ahmed Khan, the Dean and Head, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, MANUU.
Fowzia belonging to a middle class family living in Bandipora completed her graduation from degree college Baramulla. Her father Afaq Ahmad Sheikh an agriculturist always encouraged her for higher studies. Her great grandfather was a renowned poet popularly known as “Bulbul Kashmiri” by his name the family is known to everyone.
She was bestowed with a gold medal by the MANUU for being toper in her batch in 2016.
Fowzia had a dream to become a radio broadcaster and which she could not achieve due to some circumstances. However, she got a job of an Assistant Professor in AMITY, a University in Jaipur but due to unhealthy situation in Kashmir she could not join there, She said.
She said my dream was to see how women in Kashmir take electronic and print media in their life which encouraged me to complete my mass communication and doctor of philosophy degree.
Fowzia has a dream to work on UNICEF projects in future.
