J&K Government restructures 21 Tourism Development Authorities

In a significant move to boost tourism infrastructure and management, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced the reconstitution of 21 Tourism Development Authorities.

The restructuring, implemented under the Jammu and Kashmir Development Authority Act 1970, assigns new leadership roles to key government officials.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will personally chair three prominent authorities: Patnitop Development Authority, Pahalgam Development Authority, and Gulmarg Development Authority. The Chief Secretary has been appointed to lead six development authorities, including Doodpathri, Sonamarg, Lolab-Bangus-Dangyari, Bhaderwah, Surinsar-Mansar, and Bani-Basholi. This move is expected to streamline decision-making processes and expedite development projects in these areas.

For the remaining Tourism Development Authorities across Jammu and Kashmir, the Administrative Secretary of the Tourism Department will assume leadership roles. This restructuring aims to bring about more efficient management and coordinated development efforts across the union territory’s diverse tourist spots.
