Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector drew significant attention at the India International Travel Mart (IITM) held from November 27 to 29 at Pune’s Deccan College Ground. The Union Territory’s Tourism Department won the Green Globe Guardian Award for its commitment to clean and eco-friendly tourism, reinforcing its message of growth with responsibility.
The three-day event saw strong participation from both Indian states and international delegates, including representatives from Malaysia, Nepal, and Singapore. Indian states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh were also present, allowing the J&K team to engage with multiple markets in a short span.
Tourism officers showcased the wide range of experiences offered across Jammu and Kashmir, from adventure tourism in Gulmarg and Pahalgam to pilgrimage circuits in Jammu, along with leisure, heritage, and the emerging MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment. The delegation emphasized that the region provides clean air, calm spaces, and scenic beauty unmatched elsewhere.
The team underlined the work done to upgrade roads, public services and tourist facilities. They stressed safe travel, trained staff and steady improvements at key sites. They also said that the department will continue to follow green norms to protect natural assets.
The delegation invited travellers and industry partners to visit the Union Territory. They said that visitors will find variety, value and comfort. The presence of Jammu and Kashmir at IITM Pune 2025 helped the region strengthen its reach and confirm its place among India’s leading travel destinations.
Senior officers from the tourism department attended the show. The team included Aijaz Qesar Malik, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Mohd Rouf Rahman, CEO Kokernag Development Authority, Tariq Hussain Naik, CEO Gulmarg Development Authority, and Jahid Azad, Assistant Director Tourism Publicity Kashmir.
During the event, the delegation met with tour operators, travel agents, media representatives, and visitors, promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a year-round, standalone destination. Their message focused on offering diverse products and reliable services that visitors can trust.
