Kashmir Marathon Embodies Message of Unity and Positivity: LG

Felicitating the winners of the Kashmir Marathon–2025, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that the event has emerged as a symbol of unity, discipline, and brotherhood, bringing together runners from across India and abroad.

Congratulating the winners and participants, Sinha said the marathon reflects the indomitable spirit of the people and the growing sports culture in Jammu and Kashmir. “My heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the second Kashmir Marathon, and I salute the indomitable spirit of all the runners for their achievements,” he said.

He added that the event serves as a bridge across cultures and people, and the Kashmir Marathon truly represents that spirit.

Sinha said that the participation of more than 1100 runners from 27 states, Union Territories, and 11 foreign countries showcases the power of sports to unite people. “The soaring spirit of runners is a testament to the marathon’s ability to strengthen brotherhood through shared experiences during the 42 km full marathon and 21 km half marathon,” he said.

He added that the runners displayed dedication, discipline, and resilience throughout the event.

Speaking on the growing popularity of the event, Sinha said that within two years of its launch, the Kashmir Marathon has become one of the most prestigious running tournaments in the country. “It has infused a sense of pride and passion among people and inspired a new generation of runners,” he said.

He added that the marathon will further boost tourism and serve as a major economic catalyst for the region.

He congratulated the Tourism Department for organising the event successfully. “I would like to congratulate the Tourism Department for organising this wonderful event to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, dedication, and zeal for running,” Sinha said.

Welcoming international participants, Sinha said Jammu and Kashmir is a land of beauty, culture, and peace. “To our friends and runners from other countries, I want to say Jammu and Kashmir is the crown jewel of India with a rich heritage and vibrant culture. It is a paradise on earth known for its natural beauty and ideals of humanism, communal harmony, and peace,” he said.

He added that the participants will experience the transformation happening in J&K and enjoy its hospitality and scenic splendour.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sinha said J&K is witnessing a historic transformation under his leadership.

“I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for the historical transformation in this land, to build a Jammu and Kashmir which harmonizes modernity and spirituality. Today, J&K is moving forward with unwavering passion and resolution,” he said.

Sinha urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to use the international event as a platform to promote the region’s cultural and economic strengths. “I call upon the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to use this international event to showcase our priceless cultural heritage, arts, crafts, and unique traditions,” he said.

He added that the marathon should become a powerful medium to highlight J&K’s achievements and promote its handicraft, handloom, and tourism sectors globally.

“The biggest condition of this victory campaign is the positive use of governance, willpower, and energy,” Sinha said.

He added that the marathon reflects not only physical endurance but also mental strength and personal growth. “In a marathon, it is taught that by running fast, you are not only moving towards the finish line but also towards the development of a new personality,” he said.

Sinha said that a marathon teaches the importance of self-discovery and resilience. “The inner strength of a runner inspires him to explore himself. A person who breaks his boundaries and deletes the word impossible from his diary achieves mental clarity in life,” he said.

He added that the marathon represents the pursuit of personal excellence, which contributes to the social development of society.

“For any society, personal excellence is the easiest way to accelerate social development. A marathon provides that opportunity,” Sinha said. “When a runner achieves success through discipline, willpower, and resilience, it inspires others to do better. It builds self-confidence and a competitive spirit among the youth,” he added.

Sinha said that he sees the marathon as a strong example of meritocracy and self-belief. “The Kashmir Marathon paves the way for both personal excellence and social development. It also helps create physical and mental capital for all participants,” he said.
