The Department of Youth Services & Sports Anantnag concluded Inter-District Netball Tournament for Under-14 Girls, with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit at Sports Stadium Wanpora, Qazigund.
In the first semi-final, District Shopian outplayed District Jammu, while District Kulgam triumphed over host District Anantnag in the second. The grand finale between Shopian and Kulgam witnessed top-class performances, where District Shopian emerged victorious, clinching the UT Level Netball U/14 Girls Championship Title.
The Final Presentation Ceremony was graced by Abdul Gani Shah, Senior PEM of DYSSO Anantnag, and Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, Senior Netball Selector. Both dignitaries appreciated the outstanding performances of young players including Aleeza, Rabiya, and Ursula, who impressed with their agility, teamwork, and tactical play throughout the tournament.
Adding further glory to District Anantnag’s sporting achievements, the district’s cricket team registered a historic record-breaking victory in the ongoing UT Level Cricket Tournament at Budgam, defeating District Samba by a massive 164 runs.
The explosive partnership between Simnan Tariq (134) and Ayan Parvez (66) led Anantnag to a record 241/0 in 15 overs, while Baber Bashir starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets.
Both results reflect the rising sporting excellence of youth in Jammu & Kashmir, with the Department of Youth Services & Sports reaffirming its commitment to promoting talent, discipline, and teamwork across all districts of the UT.
