ASMlTA Khelo India Women’s Rugby League Comes to an End

The Galizoo Stadium in Kupwara hosted the ASMlTA Khelo India Women’s Rugby League 2025, featuring around 150 female athletes competing across Under-15, Under-18 and Senior Women’s categories.
The closing ceremony was graced by Yassir Ahmad (SHO Kupwara), who praised the athletes’ determination and discipline. Guests of honour Ab Ahad and volleyball player Neelofar Sadiq lauded the young players for their enthusiasm and dedication.


Winners included Lightning Strikers Kupwara (U-15), Thunder Hawks (U-18) and Kins Rugby Club Kupwara (Senior Women). The league’s success was driven by the efforts of the Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Rugby India, Jammu & Kashmir Rugby Association, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council and Kupwara Rugby.


The event highlighted Kupwara as a growing hub for women’s rugby and reinforced the Khelo India initiative’s commitment to empowering young women through sports.
