In Anantnag, police teams from Mattan and Utrasoo acted on specific inputs and destroyed illegal opium poppy crops at Babagund and Cherpora areas in coordination with revenue and agriculture officials. Cases have been registered and investigations initiated.

In Awantipora, a joint operation by Police Station Tral, along with officials from the Revenue and Agriculture Departments, led to the eradication of illicit poppy cultivation at Laru Jagir.

Budgam police carried out multiple operations across Charar-i-Sharief, Khansahib, Budgam and Chadoora, destroying illegal poppy crops and registering five cases under the NDPS Act. The operations were conducted in the presence of magistrates and concerned departments, with all legal procedures completed on the spot.

Similarly, in Shopian, police teams from Imamsahib destroyed illicit poppy cultivation on private land in Narwani area and registered a case under relevant sections of law.

Police said the sustained operations are part of efforts to curb drug cultivation and dismantle the supply chain. Authorities have urged the public to share information about such activities to help eliminate the drug menace from the region.
