The Jammu and Kashmir Government issued the final selection list for the appointment of outstanding sportspersons under the sports quota, concluding a detailed scrutiny and objection-resolution process undertaken by the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
According to Notification No. 02-JK (YSS) of 2026 dated June 10, 2026, the final list has been approved following the examination of objections received after the publication of the provisional selection list in February this year.
The department stated that 227 objections were received from 84 applicants and non-applicants. Each representation was scrutinized individually on the basis of official records, relevant rules and supporting documents. The decisions of the Scrutiny Committee were communicated to the concerned individuals through their registered email addresses to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.
Following the disposal of all objections and the resolution of age-related issues pertaining to one reserved case, the department finalized the selection list. The notification includes the appointment of five Chief Coaches in the Gazetted cadre for the year 2022 and 218 Instructors in the Non-Gazetted cadre for the period 2014-2022 under the outstanding sportsperson category, taking the total number of selected candidates to 223.
