Amarnath Yatra 2026: CRPF Intensifies Security and Anti-Terror Preparedness

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has intensified security measures and counter-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, aiming to ensure a safe and incident-free pilgrimage for lakhs of devotees expected to undertake the sacred journey.

As part of the enhanced security grid, the CRPF, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and other security agencies, has stepped up area domination exercises, anti-terror operations, route sanitization, and surveillance activities along the Pahalgam and Baltal axes leading to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.

Senior CRPF officials said security forces are maintaining heightened vigilance across vulnerable areas and are conducting regular search operations to neutralize any potential threat before the commencement of the pilgrimage. Advanced surveillance equipment, drones, CCTV networks, and quick reaction teams are also being deployed to strengthen security arrangements.

A multi-layered security framework is being implemented to safeguard pilgrims, service providers, and support staff throughout the duration of the yatra. Security personnel will be stationed at base camps, transit camps, lodging centres, and key points along the pilgrimage routes.

The CRPF has also intensified intelligence-based operations in coordination with other agencies to monitor suspicious activities and prevent any attempts to disrupt the annual pilgrimage. Security reviews are being conducted regularly to assess preparedness and ensure effective response mechanisms are in place.

Officials stated that special focus is being given to convoy protection, crowd management, emergency response systems, and round-the-clock monitoring of the yatra routes. Mock drills and joint exercises are also being conducted to strengthen coordination among various security and emergency agencies.

The heightened security measures come amid ongoing efforts by the administration to provide enhanced facilities and seamless services to pilgrims undertaking the revered pilgrimage. Authorities have reiterated that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of devotees.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra remains one of India’s most significant religious pilgrimages, drawing lakhs of devotees from across the country every year. With security forces on high alert and extensive preparations underway, officials are confident of ensuring a peaceful and successful Yatra 2026.
