Pilgrim Rush Grows: 8,150 Devotees Depart in Eighth Batch of Amarnath Yatra

The eighth batch of 8,150 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu on Thursday for the sacred Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 amid tight security arrangements and elaborate logistical support.

The pilgrims left in a well-escorted convoy of vehicles for the twin base camps of Baltal in Ganderbal district and Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district. Security personnel from the Jammu & Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and other agencies accompanied the convoy to ensure the safe movement of devotees.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra continues to witness an enthusiastic response from pilgrims arriving from different parts of the country to pay obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva, situated at an altitude of approximately 3,880 metres in the Himalayas.

Authorities have put in place comprehensive arrangements, including RFID-based tracking, medical facilities, disaster response teams, sanitation services, and dedicated help centres to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable pilgrimage experience. Weather advisories are also being issued regularly to help pilgrims plan their journey.

The administration has appealed to devotees to follow all safety guidelines, travel only with valid registration and RFID cards, and cooperate with security personnel for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

With each passing day, the steady influx of pilgrims reflects the deep spiritual significance of the annual pilgrimage and the confidence of devotees in the robust arrangements made by the administration and security agencies.
