A Testament to Faith: Amarnath Yatra Crosses 2 Lakh Devotees

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 has crossed the landmark figure of 2 lakh pilgrims within just eight days, marking one of the fastest pilgrim turnouts in recent years. The milestone highlights the unwavering faith of devotees and the successful management of the annual pilgrimage by the Jammu & Kashmir administration.

Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha described the achievement as a “remarkable testament to faith,” expressing gratitude to devotees, security forces, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), civil administration, healthcare workers, sanitation staff, volunteers, and all stakeholders for ensuring the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

The Yatra has witnessed an overwhelming response from devotees arriving from across the country to pay obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine of Lord Shiva in the Himalayas. Extensive arrangements, including enhanced security, healthcare services, accommodation, sanitation, transportation, and emergency response systems, have contributed to the seamless movement of pilgrims along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.

Officials stated that coordinated efforts by various departments have ensured the safety, comfort, and convenience of pilgrims despite the challenging terrain and high-altitude conditions. The administration continues to monitor the pilgrimage round the clock, with medical teams, disaster response personnel, and security agencies deployed across the Yatra routes.

The record-breaking footfall is also expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy, benefiting tourism, transport operators, hospitality services, and small businesses associated with the annual pilgrimage.
