In a groundbreaking moment for Kashmir, Luqman Bin Waseem, a Grade 2 student at Aarifeen School of Excellence in Delina, Baramulla, secured the 10th international rank in the International Junior Math Olympiad for the 2023-24 session.
The Olympiad, facilitated by the National Olympiad Foundation (NOF), saw participation from students across 11 countries in various subjects. NOF’s junior platform, an educational technology company, delivered engaging learning experiences to over 4500 schools in 11 countries, identifying individual student learning gaps and addressing them through algorithmically generated curricula and interactive, scaffolded support.
Waseem Ahmad, expressing his joy for his son’s outstanding performance, highlighted that Luqman solely relied on the school curriculum for his preparation, avoiding additional study materials. He expressed gratitude to Luqman’s educators and the school management for adopting an internationally recognized curriculum.
Luqman secured not only the 10th international rank but also claimed the 1st rank in his class, outperforming 98.23% of the total students who participated in the Olympiad. He received the topper medal in the math Olympiad.
The NOF’s Math Olympiad took place in January, witnessing widespread participation from schools across the country.
Ms. Asma Sadiq, Coordinator at Aarifeen School of Excellence, congratulated Luqman on his remarkable achievement and expressed immense pride in all students who strive for academic excellence.
“The Olympiads will become a regular part of the Aarifeen School of Excellence academic calendar, encouraging all students to participate and reach greater heights,” added Ms. Asma, emphasizing the school’s commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence.
