Army Commander Pushes for Lasting Peace and Terror-Free J&K

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander of the Northern Command on Sunday visited Rashtriya Rifles units in north Kashmir to review their operational preparedness and assess the prevailing security situation.

During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma interacted with commanders and troops deployed on the ground and emphasised the need for constant vigilance, operational synergy and greater outreach in the hinterland to maintain an upper hand over inimical elements.

An Army spokesperson said that the Army Commander commended the troops for their professionalism and commitment, reiterating the resolve to work towards a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.

The visit comes as part of the Army’s ongoing assessment of operational readiness and security arrangements in the region.

North Kashmir includes the strategically sensitive Line of Control (LoC) areas in Baramulla and Kupwara districts and remains crucial to the Army’s security grid along the borders with Pakistan. The region’s proximity to the LoC and its challenging terrain make constant surveillance, effective coordination and operational readiness important for security forces.
