CM Omar Abdullah Launches Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Club Kit

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday unveiled the official jersey of the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Club (SKCC) in Jammu, underscoring the role of sports as an effective instrument for youth engagement and development.
Speaking on the occasion, Omar highlighted the importance of structured sporting platforms in promoting discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among young people. He said such initiatives provide constructive avenues for youth, steering them towards positive pursuits and away from social challenges.
Abdullah lauded the efforts of SKCC in nurturing cricketing talent at the grassroot level and maintaining consistent sporting activity. He noted that clubs like SKCC play a vital role in strengthening community bonds and fostering social cohesion.
Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to sports development, he said the administration would continue to support initiatives that expand opportunities for emerging talent across Jammu and Kashmir.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani said the Government is focused on creating an enabling environment for youth through accessible and inclusive sports infrastructure. The event also highlighted SKCC’s anti-drug campaign, “Say Yes to Future, No to Drugs,” reflecting its role in promoting social awareness alongside sports.
Among those present on the occasion were club members, including Surpreet Singh, Captain of SKCC, Abdul Qadar Khan, Bawa Barjinder, Rahul Sagotra, Sumit Verma and Mohd Aslam.
