GMC Anantnag Organises Walkathon to Encourage Wellness

In observance of World Heart Day, GMC Anantnag organised an eight-kilometre walkathon from MMABM Hospital, Janglatmandi, to the main campus at Dialgam.

The walkathon saw participation from a large gathering of citizens, doctors, and students from various schools.
The event commenced at 7 am and concluded at the main campus, drawing attention to the significance of early detection, preventive care, and healthy living habits.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb highlighted the importance of lifestyle modifications in preventing heart diseases.

The event also featured addresses by Dr Syed Maqbool, head incharge, and senior Cardiologists including Dr. Shamim Iqbal, Dr. Showkat Shah and Dr Shahood Kakroo.

The doctors emphasized the importance of active lifestyles, preventive cardiac care, and early recognition of symptoms to reduce the risk of premature cardiac death.

Special focus was placed on quitting smoking, maintaining healthy weight, managing stress, adopting nutritious diets, and regular exercise.
