JKUT Senior Judo Championship Ends on a High Note

The JKUT Senior Boys and Girls Judo Championship concluded at Bhagwati Nagar Stadium, here today, organized jointly by Judo Association Jammu & Kashmir and J&K Sports Council. The day-long event witnessed intense competition among top judo players from across the Union Territory.


Sukesh Dutta, President of the Judo Association Jammu & Kashmir, was the chief guest who presented medals and certificates to the winners. Rahil Singh, social activist, attended as the guest of honour. The bouts were officiated by Suraj Bhan Singh, Arshi Nad, Shafakat Shafi, Vikas Dogra, Ritika Slathia, Jugal Kishore and Shakti Gupta. Prominent officials present included Suraj Sharma (Hony General Secretary), Rohit Sadhotra, Tahir Ahmed, Ranjodh Singh, Atul Sharma with Munish Chatwal serving as Organising Secretary.


In the girls’ category, Manya (Jammu) won 48kg, Khushi Thakur (Doda) 52kg, Tamleek Shah (Srinagar) 57kg, Talha Fayaz (Srinagar) 63kg, Upasana (Kathua) 70kg, Anshika Sharma (Jammu) 78kg and Anmol Devi (Kathua) took the Open title.


In the boys’ category, champions included Eshaan Saini (Jammu) 60kg, Virabhadra Singh (Jammu) 66kg, Akshay Sharma (Jammu) 73kg, Vipul (Kathua) 81kg, Rajat Chib (Rajouri) 90kg, Danish (Jammu) 100kg, and Inyat Khan (Ganderbal) above 100kg.


The championship showcased emerging talent, competitive spirit and the growing popularity of judo in Jammu & Kashmir, reflecting the efforts of the association and sports council in promoting the sport across the region.
