LG Manoj Sinha Attends Event Celebrating Kashmiriyat and Interfaith Harmony

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday participated in the Interfaith Dialogue on “Urdu, Kashmiriyat and Shared Cultural Traditions” held at the Writers’ Hall, SKICC, Srinagar, where he highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s centuries-old legacy of communal harmony, mutual respect, and cultural coexistence.

Addressing scholars, religious leaders, academicians, writers, and members of civil society, the Lieutenant Governor said that Jammu and Kashmir has long stood as an embodiment of “Sarva Dharma Sambhav”, where diverse faiths, languages, and cultures have flourished together through dialogue, understanding, and shared values. He emphasized that preserving this rich heritage is essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.

LG Manoj Sinha said that Urdu has played a vital role in promoting literature, culture, and social harmony, while the spirit of Kashmiriyat reflects compassion, tolerance, inclusiveness, and mutual respect. He urged people, particularly the younger generation, to uphold these values and protect the region’s unique cultural identity for future generations.

The Lieutenant Governor stressed that interfaith dialogue serves as a powerful platform to strengthen trust, encourage constructive engagement, and reinforce the constitutional values of equality, fraternity, and respect for all religions. He noted that sustained dialogue among communities is essential for promoting peace and countering divisions based on religious or social differences.

The seminar brought together eminent personalities from different faiths and academic backgrounds to deliberate on the role of Urdu, Kashmiriyat, and shared cultural traditions in fostering communal harmony and preserving Kashmir’s pluralistic ethos. Participants discussed the importance of promoting mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and inclusive development through dialogue and cooperation.

The event concluded with a collective call to preserve the values of brotherhood, coexistence, and cultural diversity that have historically defined Jammu and Kashmir, while encouraging continued efforts to strengthen interfaith understanding across society.
