Pahalgam Hosts Flag-Off Ceremony for YSS Ganderbal Trekking Expedition

The Department of Youth Services and Sports Ganderbal started Phase IV of the District Level Trekking Expedition for Boys AAG. The new batch left Ganderbal yesterday and reached Pahalgam for the start of their schedule.

A group of 50 students, as per a YSS statement issued on Tuesday, and staff members of the department began their first trek today. The route covered the base camp of Pahalgam to the scenic Betaab Valley. The trekkers returned to the hotel after completing the route. The students showed high energy throughout the day. They remained active and followed all instructions given by the field staff.

The boys expressed their gratitude to the department. They said that the trekking programme gives them exposure, improves their physical fitness, and strengthens their confidence. Many students shared that this experience helps them learn discipline, safety awareness, and teamwork.

The department has already completed three phases of the trekking programme with strong participation from students across the district. Phase IV is the final phase of this year’s schedule. The department expects this phase to achieve the same level of success.
