SKUAST-K Campus Joins the Tricolour Wave in Tiranga Rally

A large contingent of students and NSS volunteers from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) joined the Tiranga Rally in Srinagar on Wednesday, becoming part of a major youth gathering centred on national unity, civic participation and the spirit of patriotism.

Flagged off by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, the rally began at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) and culminated at the Botanical Garden, bringing together students and youth from across the region.

The event placed young people at the centre of the Independence Day build-up, with the Lieutenant Governor urging students to embrace patriotism, national unity and social responsibility and to play an active role in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir and the country.

Representing SKUAST-K, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Dean Students Welfare Prof. S. A. Gangoo joined a large contingent of NSS volunteers from the University. Their participation underlined the University’s emphasis on developing socially responsible and civically engaged young citizens alongside academic and professional development.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor called upon the youth to become ambassadors of peace, progress and development, emphasising their role in nation-building.

For the participating students, the rally offered an opportunity to experience a major public celebration of national unity and civic participation. NSS volunteer Nitish Kumar described the occasion as a memorable experience, saying that being part of the large gathering made the students feel connected to the country’s collective spirit.

The rally concluded at the Botanical Garden with a cultural programme. SKUAST-K’s participation reflected its continued efforts to encourage students to engage with society beyond the classroom and to imbibe values of service, responsibility, unity and constructive citizenship.
