Sonamarg experiences surge in tourist footfall..

Sonamarg of Ganderbal district in Central Kashmir has emerged as a tourist hotspot this year.
With approximately 91,586 tourists, including 3,079 foreigners, exploring the area, Sonamarg has solidified its position as a premier attraction for both local and non-local travellers in Kashmir.

The surge in tourism has been particularly notable since the beginning of the year, with 91,586 tourists, including 3,079, flocking to the region in January and February alone. This influx of visitors has not only highlighted the natural beauty of Sonamarg but also underscored its growing appeal among travellers.

Local shopkeepers are rejoicing over the increase in tourist activity, attributing it to the relentless promotional efforts by the tourism department.

Expressing gratitude for the surge in business, they note that the current flow of tourists has surpassed previous records, signalling a promising trend for the region’s tourism industry.
Members of the tourism sector are enthusiastically embracing the surge in visitors, viewing it as a much-needed revival of their businesses after nearly three years of hiatus. They are urging the tourism department to intensify its promotional campaigns to further enhance Sonamarg’s allure and attract even more visitors in the future.
