Global Trade Gateway Opens for Kashmir Entrepreneurs at Srinagar Meet

The two-day International Buyer-Seller Meet in Srinagar has emerged as a major platform for promoting trade and exports from Jammu and Kashmir, bringing together local entrepreneurs, exporters, artisans, and international buyers to forge new business partnerships and strengthen global market linkages.

The event aims to showcase Kashmir’s internationally acclaimed products, including handicrafts, handloom, carpets, Pashmina shawls, papier-mâché, walnut wood crafts, saffron, dry fruits, and horticultural produce. By facilitating direct interaction between manufacturers and overseas buyers, the initiative is expected to enhance export opportunities and increase the global reach of Kashmiri products.

Local entrepreneurs and exporters hailed the event as a significant boost for the region’s economy. They said the Buyer-Seller Meet has opened new avenues for business expansion and international collaboration, enabling local businesses to establish direct contacts with buyers from different countries. They added that such interactions will help improve market access, strengthen export networks, and create fresh opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Exhibitors displayed a diverse range of premium products, highlighting Kashmir’s rich craftsmanship, centuries-old artisanal traditions, and high-quality agricultural produce. International buyers interacted with producers, explored sourcing possibilities, and discussed export requirements to build long-term business relationships.

Among the international participants was African buyer Mansour, who expressed admiration for the quality and authenticity of Kashmiri products during his first visit to the Valley.

“It’s nice—this is my first time here, and I’ve discovered very nice products. In Africa, we had only heard about Kashmir, but we did not have the opportunity to be directly in touch with the producers,” Mansour said.

His remarks reflect the growing international interest in Kashmir’s traditional crafts and locally produced goods, underscoring the importance of such platforms in connecting global buyers directly with artisans and manufacturers.

Business leaders described the International Buyer-Seller Meet as a major step towards strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s export ecosystem, enhancing the global visibility of local brands, attracting investment, and promoting sustainable economic growth. They believe the initiative will contribute significantly to increasing exports, generating employment, and positioning Kashmir as a preferred global sourcing destination for high-value handicrafts, textiles, and agricultural products.

The event is expected to play a crucial role in expanding Kashmir’s footprint in international markets while reinforcing the government’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship, exports, and inclusive economic development across the Union Territory.
