The Jammu and Kashmir Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team has etched their names in history with an extraordinary performance at the 7th MMA INDIA National Championship held in Chattisgarh from May 8th to May 12th.
Amidst fierce competition from 27 states and Union Territories, boasting nearly 550 participants, the J&K team showcased unparalleled skill and determination.
The J&K contingent distinguished itself by securing an impressive haul of 11 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals, culminating in the lifting of the esteemed 1st Runner-up trophy. This remarkable achievement underscores the team’s unwavering commitment to excellence and their exceptional prowess in the MMA arena.
In an added triumph, all the Senior and Junior Gold medalists from the J&K team have been selected to represent India in the upcoming Asian MMA Championship scheduled to take place in Lahore, Pakistan, in the month of July. During the MMA India award night, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was honored with the Best Youth Development Award in MMA. Additionally, Zaid Shabir, a talented athlete from J&K and an Asian medalist, was recognized as the MMA Athlete of the Year during the ceremony.
